As Prince Azariah blushed, Jezebel turned a pleading eye on the king, every word in her look easily read, “Help me! Do I have to talk to him? Can’t you please find someone else.”
Azariah recovered, and tried to cover the awkward silence that had sprung between the two with an attempt to excuse himself from the room. “It is obvious that I have arrived at a bad time. Perhaps we can talk again later, your highness, princess.” He bowed and attempted to shuffle backwards out the door, only to fall over the dragon, who began to wail loudly about how unfair life was, and even gurgled something about running away. Azariah turned and tried to comfort the dragon, apologizing for his lack of coordination. “It’s all my fault, Sir Dragon. Please do stay and keep us company.” Jezebel smothered a laugh.
The king stooped to help Azariah to his feet, and began to apologize. “I am sorry Prince Azariah, for the lack of hospitality you must be feeling right now. It is just that my daughter is surprised at your sudden appearance, and seems to have lost her tongue in the process.”
Still trying to smother laughter at the thought of the Prince apologizing to the dragon, and trying to regain ground, Jezebel said, “I have not lost my tongue, but I thought it rude to say how funny I found it that you apologized to the dragon. It is his fault after all.”
