In which there’s a commotion at the castle
Chapter Two

Jezebel was depressed. Here she was, as gorgeous as could be, and there wasn’t even a single prince in the kingdom to admire her. It had been days and days since she got back. Surely some of the closer kingdoms would have heard of her return and sent a willing prince her direction. But they hadn’t. Life did seem so unfair.

Jezebel was so deep in thought over the unfairness of it all that she didn’t hear the knock at her door, at least not the first time, or the second time, or even the third. Nor did she hear the door open and the dragon scuttle in. She did however, feel the pinch from the dragon’s talons on her upper arm. “Ouch!” Jezebel roared in her surprise. “Oh dragon, I’m sorry. I wasn’t expecting you.”

“I know, but you didn’t open the door. Come on Jezebel, the king wants you, and he wants you now. You don’t want to make him angry. I bet he’s really scary when he’s angry. Come on!” The dragon whimpered and moaned about how scary the king would be as he literally starting dragging Jezebel out of her room.

“What’s so urgent?” Jezebel complained. “It’s not like there is some amazing suitor ready to marry me. They just don’t want me. Life isn’t fair!”

And so, Jezebel and the dragon both lamented their fears and worries as they headed out the door to see the king.
